just a quick note about what i did yesterday.
it was again a most beautiful day.
too beautiful to sit around reading or weeding.....i needed to get out.
I went to the post office, the social hub of Berry Creek because you might run into someone when they go to pick up their mail. I didn't of course but the post master is a friendly guy. And kids around with all the clients.
After i got back to the house i decided to go up to Bald Rock for a hike.
I packed my water and camera and lenses, my flashing flashlight, glasses, and kleenex and cell phone.
Its a windy narrow drive uphill through dense forest to the trail head. I didn't go up right away once i got into the parking lot. There was no one else around. But soon another car pulled in and a little Mexican family, big burly man , big burly mom, 3 burly and one skinny kid and their grandmother got out whooping and hollering and eager to find the water slide. I told them, no water slide here.....but the mother told me "Yes there is" , and told her husband " willie told me there is a water slide here"
anyway, i figured that they were making enough noise to scare off any critter that could possibly be hunting in the woods so i followed them up the tail.
they went to the highest peak but i explored the north " slab"
it was just beautiful. it was not hot. it was a little cloudy so you could not see the sutter buttes nor much of the valley, the storm front reached pretty far inland and was a gorgeous hue of violet. It was very breezy and i took lots of photos. there must have been rain recently because there were some wild flowers blooming around the sandy spots where the water flows in the spring. There was also a hatching of dragonflies and i tried to photograph them swarming around but they were pretty high in the pine, way above the manzanit.
When i got back i cut up some watermelon and musk melon and froze it...they left too much for me to eat before it goes bad. and i had several conversations on the phone it was nice to hear from Dad, Erin and Keith.
i did the usual putzing around, and now im ready to start a new day.
the sun is hot. and by now pretty high and im going to check out a house cleaning job for one of Mary's friends...Lisa , she needs her guest house cleaned...
