i don't have too much to say about yesterday July 28

...except i was delighted to learn that Nicole and Keith and Jake and Zack are adding a baby brother to the clan. Im psyched about it.

im sitting here sipping a hot cup of tea. ( its sitting way over to the right side of the desk) Reflecting on the rest of yesterday. Wednesday right?

I was pretty gung-ho in the morning. tidied up the bedroom. Made my protein smoothie. Checked the gardens and the little orchard. Came on the computer to see if i'd gotten any email.

I had already decided that since i had to go to town for a prescription and had some $ i would get myself over to Home Depot and find the stain to finish the deck.

by the time i was ready it was almost 11:30.

I have to tell you......the BEST Home Depot i've ever been in. And i LOVE Home Depot. You might not know that about me. But about the Home Depot in Oroville, .....good selection of healthy looking plants,excellent selection of lighting fixtures ( my favorite department) And the fella in Paints was very friendly and helpful. While there i checked out the appliances specifically looking for that super new french door fridge...and they had it. A Monster. for only $2500. + and it's BEAUTIFUL.

I took the back way , back into downtown Oroville. Got myself a little disoriented driving around the grid through the old neighborhoods . I love Oroville. I loved these tree lined streets, filled with lovely craftsman style homes all with their own character. Some spanish style, some i'd call pioneer style. Even a couple mansions thrown in there. Nice parks for kids. I think way back there was some Money to be made in Oroville. Some ranching, some agriculture, the cannery, the hatchery maybe mining. It looks mostly poor now. But i love it.

I was in the mood for a burger. Not McDonalds. And on the way back up the hill on the way out of town i grabbed a Mikes Grande Burger.....and it was just grand. Im pretty fussy about food and i liked Mikes.

I had already decided that when i got back , around 2ish, i would have a lazy afternoon of reading , which i did. But by 5 i wish i hadn't. I was looking at a few more hours of lazy before bedtime.

Lazy now and then is probably needed by people who are doing too much all the time. ( I know a few of you) But not really great for someone who is not doing much . I didn't feel relaxed lazy i felt useless lazy.

Then the phone started ringing and in the next 5 hours i was on the phone most of the time. And Fran IS going to come up this weekend. She's decided to drive herself. Thinking of going down there for my birthday weekend. ( the Fire on the Mountain Blues Festival and Sonora family nights street festival)

Today im planning on being some what more productive. Leaf blowing, vacuuming , floor washing and deck staining.

The only animal encounters since Tuesday night have been bats and hummingbirds and quail. On Tuesday night i was standing in the bedroom window star gazing and the bats just kept flying by and kind of hovering right in front of the window. About 5 inches away. I thought that was strange. They never stopped still but kind of it was kind of like they were hanging by a string swinging back and forth past the window.Was if their radar was working?They must have felt my presence. The hummingbirds sound like giant bees with their wings buzzing and make growling and clicking sounds and sort of dive around my head when i get into the garden, where i startled a covey of quail late yesterday afternoon.

A small bit of commotion on Tuesday evening because of some kid trying to start a fire in the woods, just before Berry Creek Road up on the hill on the right side driving up. Fire trucks and fire marshall came up from Oroville.

a little, grumpy this morning. unsettled or something. being useful will help there.
