Attempted to get the week wacker fixed but the place was closed for vacation. I just wanted it fixed so Al wouldn't have to deal with it when he gets back. Re-entry is difficult enough.
I picked up groceries. Staples, TP, paper towels, laundry soap, garbage bags, freezer bags, oil, peanut butter, tuna.....you know, staple.... OH and a chocolate birthday cake.
Tomorrow im going to clean Larry's house. And hopefully watch sunset from Bald Rock.
You should have seen the view of the valley today, really smoggy. Like looking through yellow, orange, brown, murky haze. I bet the colors at sunset tonight were spectacular.
Also, i noticed that the lake is starting to receed. Still, it looks cool and refreshing and though Ive never been a boat person, looking at that marina, and the blue water, I thought how nice it would be out there on the water, exploring the "tributaries". And for a moment wondered if Al and Mary, or rather why Al and Mary don' t bring their boat there........only a brief moment however before remembering that they are real seafaring adventurers and taking their boat on the lazy reservoir would be like floating in a bathtub for them. Did you know that lake Oroville has the Tallest Dam in the USA? and you can drive across it.
The green beans and peppers are really taking off .....and wow, you should see the acorn squash they seem to be doubling in size every day......so many tomatoes! Still green because the nights are so cool. Ill have plenty for a nice batch of Gazpacho , i might even try making tomato granata ( like italian ice but the ice is chunkier ) if the tomatoes are sweet enough.
I bought a watermelon yesterday. I froze half of it to make those nice watermelon smoothies........Ill take the other half camping this weekend.
OH THE DOE IS RIGHT THERE , RIGHT NEXT TO THE GARDEN, I THINK IT'S THE FAWN. I JUST WENT TO THE BEDROOM WINDOW TO LOOK OUT AND THERE SHE IS.
I am sure going to miss Berry Creek.
The meadow is still mostly green. There are some large patches of brown but still, mostly green. The meadow to the front of the property is not green at all ...its all pale and wheat and dotted with sunny yellow flowers and tall giant dandelion puffs.
I weeded around the gardenias today and then lay newspapers around them , on the ground, to keep the weeds from growing back right away. Also the wet newspapers will help to keep the ground moist .
I AM going to the Blues Festival after all. I got the go-ahead to take the car down and woo whooo Roy Rogers here i come. ye haw. HE IS THE BEST. he is better live than on cd. He plays with roger mazurek . He played in Danbury or Ridgefield a couple months ago but its kind of far from Meriden and id have to drive home late, but if he gets to CT again i strongly urge my blues friends to go see him.
I got a nice Blues CD in the Mail from Ilona today. ...... I could identify with a couple of those songs about relationships..
Anyway, im getting ready to see the crowd from the Strawberry Music Festival over there at the Fire on the Mountain Blues Festival. It's a 2 day event. Maybe, on the way home to Butte county i can segue to Calaveras and see the BIG TREES. Or talk someone into driving to Yosemite.......its only an hour out of Tuolumne.
One thing i realized on this trip is that , even though, it is so pleasurable to be here. And i am so happy to be here. What makes me most happy is being helpful. IM NOT unHappy here don't get me wrong, I am happy. Im just saying that in the long run. I need to feel useful. And be active. I still feel guilty if im sitting reading a book.
I've got so much more i want to do. Watch the meteor shower for sure. that's number 1 on my bucket list. Hike to feather falls, further down the list but still, i might not get to do it if i don't do it now. Finish staining that edge of the plank ....on the deck step.
Oh i have to remember my hat for the festival. its going to be 2 long days in the sun. .... Sun screen, water bottle...... sweatshirt for night.......
ok, ive chewed on your ear long enough. suppose i should wait till tomorrow to cut my birthday cake?
Love you guys.
