recap of today
Time to pick up another RX so drove to Oroville. And back. Another $50 bucks. geesh.
I missed getting back up on time to mail at the post office, so ill go again tomorrow.
OH on the way up Bald Rock Road, about a mile from the end of the driveway i saw a lovely doe with two spotted fawns.
And that was it for wildlife sightings today. Besides squirrels and the ever present lizards.
O it was very breezy here today. There was a constant rustling of leaves followed by the woosh of them being blown from the roof over the porch.
I did go back and clip off the spent roses. They smell sweet and juicy, fruity. I noticed long green peppers. Im not sure how to tell when they're ready to pick. I wonder how hot they are? Also there are tiny skinny little green beans beginning. I planted some mixed lettuce in this big half a barrel in the back yard that has a sprinkler in it and a big rock but nothing else growing. so i threw some seeds in there and Mary or I will have a second crop of lettuce.
I was perusing some cook books when Fran called,,,,,she IS going to drive to Berry Creek tomorrow. It was a long call and we got disconnected. I thought she would call back but she didn't.
Keith called too and stayed on the phone way past his bedtime.
otherwise i guess no news is good news.
I did get creative with the Gazpacho. I saved a cup for Fran, if she wants to try it...but with the rest i made the best tomato sauce ever, its thick. Maybe ill make some little pizzas when she comes using the bread i saved in the freezer. I sauteed a big onion and half a green pepper, fennel seed, marjoram, italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, and garlic and some of the Thai basil i got from the farmers market. I sauteed all of that in a little olive oil. Then i added the Gazpacho and also some of the juice from the homemade salsa ..... I had some olives in that salsa and i took them out and sliced them and threw them into the pot, and about 5 pickled artichoke pieces that were in the fridge. Yes, i did use a tablespoon of brown sugar...i apologize to my italian friends. I know you guys don't use sugar, but i have to cut the acidity.
Well i just let it simmer for about 45 minutes. Now ive got about a cup and a half of some darn good sauce.
I watched all except the first half hour of what was supposed to be a hilarious movie, The Hangover. it was distracting.
Thats it, a pretty lazy day. Not too inspiring today , except in the kitchen. It must be from all the fresh ingredients and reading Mary's vegetarian cook books.
Time to turn in. Eyes are blurry. A couple of BIG days coming up with Fran here. Will check in when i can.
Love and Miss you
Mom/Sal
