she is on vacation
and its 5:0'clock somewhere! even if its only 11:30 here
about 3:30 fran went into the little cottage for a nap. I put my feet up for a while just doing a little suduko. I got up to go into the house for something and i saw this little doe, down in the meadow, not far at all from the house.
i went inside and grabbed my camera and came out and she was still frozen. Slowly skirting the eastern edge of the back yard with the trees and vines for cover i worked my way to the gate that goes into the meadow. We watched each other for a good 10 minutes . Deciding i was no danger she resumed grazing, looking back at me every so often. Watching me. I watched her back.
I wanted a little different angle so went up to the other gate, opened it , and walked toward the pond. I went slowly, stopping every so often. She would graze then stop and look at me. Id just stay still and she'd graze a little more. Then she looked at me and got curious enough to start walking toward me with purpose. Then stopped, and i started walking further down the path, toward her. Finally a little fear got the better of her and she turned toward the fence, and walked over it and trotted up into the little clearing between the two ponds.
There's a path from the back yard leading to either pond and to the hiking trail. When you come to the fork in the road, going right and up some steps is the upper pond. If you go left you are walking next to the meadow toward the lower pond. Just about as you head down toward the lower pond is a log, not long, i don't know, 3 or 4 feet long lying down next to the path. Well, today, i can see, that over night, something has taken off the top of the log. The log itself has lots of worm holes or probably ant holes in it. Im thinking that a bear dug into the old , rotten, log looking for a tasty insect treat.
And the upper pond is starting to go down. And you can see in the mud left on the edge of the pond, the prints of the deer who go to drink there. It was evening, and the light was kind of dim, so i couldn't really read other prints. .
I missed something last night. BIGFOOT. as told by Fran.
I didn't hear anything. Once i was out. I was out.
Nothing woke me up last night, not even the bull frogs who usually serenade me to sleep and whom i suspect were making the noises Fran heard.
So tomorrow, we are going to meet with another old Berry Creek friend, who sees them on her property all the time.

OH we took a short ride tonight. And we saw the whole deer herd bedding down under the apple trees, just at the end of the driveway, on the corner of the driveway and Bald Rock Road.
Fran and i had 2 big meals today. I made tacos for lunch. She made fried catfish for supper.
I've never had catfish. its really good.
well,
love you all and miss you
